February arrives with continued anticipation around the Silver Star ski lift, as this winter season has unfolded differently than expected. So far, Mother Nature has not cooperated in the ways many had hoped. The area has not received the amount of natural snowfall typically needed, and unseasonably warm temperatures have also limited ideal snowmaking conditions.
Despite these challenges, there has been progress. The Silver Star lift opened for upload and download only on Thursday, January 29, offering guests access while snow conditions continue to develop. This marks an encouraging step forward as winter operations move deeper into the season.
Looking ahead, there is optimism that conditions will improve. If temperatures and weather patterns allow, the Park City Mountain snowmaking team is expected to begin making snow on the Silver Star runs during the first week of February. This effort would help build a stronger base and move closer to expanded operations.
Stay tuned for updates—and let’s all keep our fingers crossed for some much-needed snow in the weeks ahead.
